Acting Sex Editor, Cosmopolitan UK
September - November 2021
I worked as acting sex and relationships editor for Cosmopolitan UK from September 2021, until November the same year covering the recruitment period between editors. As part of this role, I looked after all sex and relationships content across online and two print issues, including the Christmas issue and the special 50th Anniversary issue. As part of this responsibility, I commissioned and edited freelancers to produce features and long reads for digital and print and directed and created art for long reads. What’s more, I continuously updated SEO and time-pegged pieces to comply with new guidelines and increase UUs, increased revenue through a new eCommerce strategy
I also wrote features and interest pieces for digital and print from the revised Sex and the Single Girl column which features in the March 2022 issue of Cosmopolitan UK, a feature on why people without social media are so attractive, and another on trying celeb-style PDA for a week.
Acting Essay Editor, The Curiosity Club
April-July 2021
I provided cover for the acting essay editor during their sick leave, commissioning and editing essays on sex and relationships, mental health, lifestyle, body, travel, money and more, for The Curiosity Club website. I also helped with copy, newsletters, art direction and social media.
Some of my favourite essays commissioned and edited were this one on trying a butt plug for the first time, how social media helped one writer leave religious purity behind, and an essay on the difficulty of being financially stable when you have EUPD.
Alongside editing and copywriting, I wrote essays of my own to be published on TTC, from this one on how life modelling helped me embrace my plus size body and another on why its so difficult to fix broken friendships as an adult.
Content lead Editor, Killing Kittens
April - September 2021
I worked for Killing Kittens where I conducted SEO research and developed a blog content strategy accordingly. From there, I commissioned an array of freelance writers to cover the titles drawn from the strategy, working alongside them and editing their drafts to a publishable standard. I ensured all writing was error-free, engaging, and worked with a fact-checker to ensure all information was correct and thoroughly safeguarded.
